Can you help with a diet sheet for type 2 diabetes?

I'm not diabetic, but my chemotherapy and steroids have upset my blood sugar - sometimes high-low 29.5 3.1! I've been on a slow-release metformin in trying to control them. I wonder what I should or should not eat, but I said all along - just eat a healthy diet! I have nothing to do and of course there is more I need to know. I knew someone with type 2, and has used it to eat a sandwich at a certain time of day and avoid certain foods. Please help - it's bad enough trying to get scattered Stage 4 colon cancer, which now has both my lungs and my liver and deep vein thrombosis, I, as a side effect of chemotherapy survived, so I should be pig sick to death of type 2 diabetes and reactions, help! and thanks.
